PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe could be expecting his first grandchild at the age of 92.
Mugabe’s only daughter, Bona, who married Simba Chikore, said to be a pilot, at a lavish wedding on March 1, 2014, is reportedly expecting judging by her bulging stomach.
Since their wedding, the issue of the pair having a child has been the subject of social media speculation for some time now.
Bona’s traditional marriage was held at Mugabe’s Zvimba rural home in August 2013.On Wednesday, Bona looked like an expecting mother when she appeared at State House, where Mugabe was launching a book of a collection of speeches by Tanzania’s founding president, the late Julius Nyerere.

NewsDay spotted Bona wearing a pink maternity dress at the function.
Bona, named after Mugabe’s late mother, is the veteran leader’s first child in a family of three from his second marriage to First Lady Grace Mugabe, which also includes Robert Junior and Chatunga Bellarmine.
Strenuous efforts to get confirmation, either from the First Family or the Information ministry, this week proved fruitless.
Mugabe’s spokesperson, George Charamba, was not reachable yesterday, while the principal director in the Information ministry, Regis Chikowore, said he was not aware of Bona’s “status”.
“I was not at the function (at State House). I am not, therefore, aware of her (Bona)’s status,” he said.
