Married prostitute raped by regular client

A MARRIED Chinotimba woman in Victoria Falls on Wednesday admitted making rape claims against her regular client after he had failed to pay $10 for services rendered.

This emerged when Stephen Moyo (24) of Chinotimba appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani where he pleaded not guilty to rape.

It is was the State's case that one night in March 2013, Moyo was drinking beer at Sona Ncube beer hall in Monde village with the 49-year-old woman. The woman left the bar to rest and Moyo allegedly followed her some hours later.

It was alleged that Moyo forcibly opened the bedroom door where she was sleeping to gain entry, undressed and sneaked into her bed. He allegedly put on a condom and raped her once while she was fast asleep.

The State said the woman woke up and discovered Moyo sleeping next to her undressed and still wearing a condom and he bolted out leaving his trousers in her bedroom. However, Moyo told the court that he was a regular client of the woman and things only became sour after he failed to pay $10 for a previous sexual encounter.

"The intercourse was consensual and she had ordered me to pay $10, but l did not have it at that time and as a regular client she had said l would pay when l got the money," he said.

"We usually drink together, but she is married and the day we had sexual intercourse her husband was out of town. In December, we met at a drinking spot in Chinotimba and she removed the pants that I was wearing demanding her $10 for March and that is the trousers she is producing as evidence.

"On Sunday last week, I went to her house because of my sexual cravings and she let me in. As we were about to start, she screamed calling the neighbours saying I was attempting to rape her, leading to my immediate arrest, but both of us know the truth," Moyo added.

Asked by Rosemani why she had not reported the previous alleged rape, the woman responded: "I was afraid that my husband would divorce me and I wanted him to give me the money that he owed me because he had begged me not to report him."

Rosemani remanded Moyo in custody to September 30 for continuation of trial.
